A scene we witnessed in Moremi wildlife reserve in Botswana when we traveled through Africa for the second time as a family.
This was our first sighting of the painted hunting dog (Lycaeon pictus) and was one of the most rewarding and treasured experiences of our African safaris. We eventually became involved with Greg Rasmussen and his painted dog research at Umbshibi, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe and have had the opportunity to spend many days intimately observing these remarkable creatures.
